harbour house

The site is set in tranquil suburban holiday home territory, close to beach amenities and a family friendly yet competitive sailing club. Designed as a contemporary interpretation of Scandinavian architecture, the house prioritizes functionality, simplicity, and a deep connection to nature.

Set within a heavily wooded site, the building seamlessly integrates into its surroundings through the use of locally inspired natural materials. Darkened ash and flint stone blend contemporary form and clean lines into the setting.

The architecture embraces simple, elegant forms, with expansive indoor-outdoor living areas that provide a secluded sanctuary, an escape from the demands of city life, no matter how brief the stay.

Maximizing natural light and embracing the rhythms of the changing seasons were central to the design. Large, glazed openings establish a constant dialogue with the landscape, flooding the interiors with daylight while offering ever-shifting views of nature. The darkened timber and stone further enhance the home’s relationship with its environment, allowing it to recede into the landscape and become one with its surroundings.
