the old forge

Situated just off the busy Lymington High St, The Old Forge brings much needed luxury commercial space to the heart of Lymington. The site repurposes two derelict outbuildings from the early 1800s and modernises them for office use. Designed to bridge the existing courtyard between the two outbuildings, the contemporary additions use glazing and Corten steel to create an open, airy working space that seamlessly blends into the buildings commercial, but historical setting, The rugged, tactile nature of traditional brickwork is set against the sharp, clean lines of the Corten,

Maximizing natural light was central to the design. Large, glazed openings flood the interiors with daylight. The deep, recessed windows and structural ribs create a shifting movement of shadow throughout the day, ensuring the building never feels static. This is not a building that imposes itself on the land, but one that weaves through it, using the existing footprint to minimise its impact and allow the surrounding greenery to reclaim the edges of the built form.

The building operates under a single commercial lease for a maximum of 30 members of staff. The site can operate for a range of commercial functions, designed to be flexible and suit the needs of its occupants.
